A new year, and new enthusiasm. When AngelAV's Orlando Fernandes requested me to look after this baby, I readily agreed.
Frankly, it would have been better off in the hands of someone who's more deep into music rather than words. But that's not the way it works in a small place like Goa. Ours is a society which has so very few people taking on initiatives that could make a difference; and even fewer people willing to help them. They do need all support.
Orlando has long impressed me with his many plans, and many dreams, whenever we met in the course of work. He rightly realises that a music business is more than just another business for Goa; it means giving a culture a new lease of life. Promoting talent which would have simply died unsung. And building up names who just might be one day widely recognised the world over, but hardly ever adequately compensated at home.
Part of the problem, maybe a large part, is that our talent is so inadequately packaged. Just writing about it isn't sufficient. But it's very necessary.
To that goal, a venture like this needs all support. We appeal to musicians and our readers to send in their write-ups. We'll do our best to accommodate "all the news that's fit to go online" (with apologies to the famous New York Times).
We're grateful to the many friends who have so generously given us the go-ahead to reproduce their work on Dulpod.com. To Dr Jose Pereira, Naresh Fernandes, Andrew G Viegas, and all our other supporters, a big thank you.
This is a labour of love; even if we can achieve a small part of our dreams, the fruit will be sweet, and will be there for all to appreciate, for quite some time to come. Let's keep on dreaming and hoping...
